To restore balance
Reflexology is a complementary health therapy, based on the theory that different points on the feet correspond with different areas of the body. When pressure is applied to these areas or ‘reflexes’ it stimulates the movement of energy along the nerve channels, and helps to restore homeostasis (balance) in the whole body. Foot reflexology is particularly useful for 'grounding' and helping to combat stress, anxiety and depression.
Dien Chan Zone Facial Reflexology
Created in Vietnam and developed in Italy over the past 20 years, Dien Chan Zone works to restore the correct flow of energy in the body, helping to remove energetic blocks along the way. The close proximity of the brain and sense organs of the face and gentle techniques used result in a very relaxing treatment. The main advantage of the Dien Chan Zone style of Reflexology is that the client is given a mini-facial map and pointer tool so they can continue their treatment at home. This is a particularly powerful treatment for anyone interested in upping their at-home self-care ritual.
Bergman Method of Facial Reflexology
The Bergman Method Facial Reflexology is built on a combination of Native American techniques and Asian body maps that chart the reflex points on the face. The fingers are predominantly used to massage the facial reflex points which directly connect to the body's neuro-pathways. As an added benefit to the treatment session, the face will feel and look smoother and more toned as circulation is increased and muscle tension released. Some clients call it their 'mini facelift' by helping to improve skin tone and promote lymphatic drainage.
Having previously spent a number of years scaling the corporate ladder in the financial services industry as a Marketing Consultant, I understand the impact a busy, stressful life can have on achieving and maintaining good health. I also have two children (whom love being treated with reflexology) who keep me on my toes. So I appreciate how difficult it can be to take time out for yourself.
I received my Level 3 Diploma in Reflexology from the highly-regarded London School of Reflexology. I have completed additional training in Advanced Spinal Reflexology Techniques, Mindful Reflexology (supporting clients with Anxiety and Depression), Maternity Reflexology, Fertility Reflexology, Lymphatic Drainage, Foot Reading, Advanced Reflexology Techniques (ART), Dien Chan Zone Facial Reflexology and the Bergman Method of Facial Reflexology. Your Questions, Answered
WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology is a complementary health therapy, based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands, face and ears correspond with different areas of the body. When pressure is applied to these areas or ‘reflexes’ it stimulates the movement of energy along the nerve channels, and helps to restore homeostasis (balance) in the whole body. This enhances overall relaxation, helps bring internal organs and their systems into a state of optimum functioning, and increases blood supply (which brings additional oxygen and nutrients to cells and enhances waste removal). Reflexologists work holistically with their clients and aim to work alongside traditional healthcare (like your GP) to promote better health for their clients.
WHO CAN HAVE REFLEXOLOGY?
Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive therapy which is suitable for the whole family. From the very young to those receiving end of life care, and everyone in between. However, there may occasionally be times when it is not advisable to provide a treatment. If you have any concerns, simply give me a call and we can discuss over the phone.
DO YOU TREAT PATIENTS WITH SEVERE HEALTH PROBLEMS?
Reflexology can be very useful to help manage the stress and anxiety that comes with living with serious health problems. Reflexologists will always recommend chatting to your GP first if you are unsure whether reflexology is a safe option for you. Or give me a call so we can discuss.
WHAT WILL MY FIRST SESSION BE LIKE?
Initially I will take a brief health history, which will allow me to tailor the treatment to your needs. This information is completely confidential. The treatment itself takes 50 minutes, during which you will recline in the treatment chair remaining fully clothed except for your shoes and socks.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Imbalances manifest themselves through 'crystals' at the affected reflex point, which vary from being slightly crunchy like sugar to lumps of varying sizes. Dispersing these crystals is what unblocks energy channels, and this is done by applying firm pressure with the thumb (or fingers depending on where on the foot the reflex point is).
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Reflexology does not ‘cure’, rather it aids the bodies own healing processes. Basically, it helps the body to do what it should have been doing in the first place! When used in conjunction with an holistic approach to health, reflexology can help to reduce stress levels, encourage relaxation, soothe tired feet, reduce pain, improve circulation and enhance overall well-being. Many people also find reflexology useful in helping to reduce stress related conditions such as tension headaches and digestive discomfort.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE TREATMENT?
To gain the full benefits of reflexology, the following is recommended after treatment:
Drink lots of water. This will hydrate the body, improve energy levels and flush out toxins.
Avoid strenuous exercise and rest for at least two hours after the treatment.
Avoid stimulants such as alcohol, tea and coffee. These can diminish the effectiveness of the treatment.
Stick to a light, healthy diet to enable your body to heal.
Note down any reactions you have for your next session.

"I first came to Jacqui feeling extremely stressed and upset that I wasn’t falling pregnant. My treatments were so relaxing, that I always walked out feeling lighter and happier! After two months of regular treatments I noticed my menstrual cycles regulated, and then 2 months later we conceived naturally. I am sure the reflexology helped us and would highly recommend to others!"
"I so enjoyed my treatment with Jacqui today. She really understood all that was ailing me, explained how she could help and I left feeling much more relaxed and ready to face the day. I'm looking forward to my next session!"
"... We decided at the beginning of my course of reflexology to simply go with the flow based on how I am feeling at each session - be it pain from sciatica, tiredness after a bad night's sleep, or simply feeling overwhelmed and I leave every session lighter and relaxed knowing the benefits will be enormous..."
